Live2024

Rooms designed to be remembered after the lights come back up.

Overview

Live production covering staging, motion, sound, and the run of show. An event is a piece of timing more than a piece of design, so the schedule gets the same scrutiny as the visuals.

Challenge

The previous year's show looked correct in every photograph and lost the room by minute forty. The design had been solved; the sequence had not, and no one owned the difference.

Our Approach

The run of show became the first deliverable, ahead of any staging. Everything was signed off from the worst seat before the best one, and every cue was given a manual fallback with a named person attached to it.

Outcome

A show that held its room end to end, with two cues taken manually on the night and nobody in the audience aware of it. Scale, contrast, and sound were set by the far corner, which is where most of the audience actually sits.

Live project
Two things failed live and I only found out in the debrief. That is the whole review.
